buckwilson_ One night recently I got home from work at 2am on a Friday, which is normal for me. I was especially tired, though, my legs were on fire and I had a headache that I knew wouldn't allow me to sleep. I had been standing in close proximity to loud music for 6 hours (at work), and the way I felt arriving home was similar to how I felt getting home from the club. I became jealous of all the people whose legs hurt from dancing, who were not forced to stand still for appearances like I was. Even walking in circles would have been preferable. I got in bed and opened Facebook, and SHXCXCHCXSH was live on Boiler Room, playing a set in Krakow. I checked the time, and I think it was like 10am in Poland when I tuned in. Within minutes I got out of bed, and with the last of my strength, I danced for the whole set. I slept like a rock and my day felt complete, thank you SHXCXCHCXSH!!!

about

OUFOUFOF represents the beginning of a new turn for SHXCXCHCXSH, one born out of a fresh conceptual approach to rhythm.

Having concentrated in recent years on music for more experimental scenes, SHXCXCHCXSH wanted to create music for the club, but not with the usual 4/4 approach. “…the main focus being our relationship with the dancers' minds and how we do our best to fuck with them”.

Stylistically, the project began with a discussion about rhythm, about what is interesting and what is not. The result is a conceptualized approach, one in which multiple sounds in each track are based around a single rhythmic pattern. This concept has been extended holistically, to track names and artwork. Ultimately, what began life as a series of records has evolved into an eight-track LP of twisted, polyrhythmic studies in pattern and texture.

Fresh off the back of SHULULULU EP for Avian, OUFOUFOF, is the fourth studio long-player from the Swedish duo and will be released on their own label Rösten, November 5th.
